What Amanda's doing ...

While Jan's saving the state's water supply (he did come back to Perth briefly, but has disappeared again), Amanda is busy saving the world. Well, at least teaching them English. With the current 10-week block of lessons coming to an end, she's getting sad about saying goodbye to her lovely students, who come from Korea, Japan, Brazil, Colombia, Switzerland, Taiwan and Thailand. The picture shows a group picnic in Hyde Park recently.

Jan watches outback sunsets

What's Jan up to? He's making sure the middle of our state keeps getting water. This month he's spending most of his time up on site at Carrabin, east of Merredin, as work on this year's pipeline refurbishment begins. And he sent me these photos today showing the area where he's working. I guess it doesn't always look this beautiful but he wouldn't find this back in Germany!

Was macht eigentlich Jan gerade?

Weekend in the Swan Valley

Last weekend we enjoyed an overnight stay in the Swan Valley - actually a wedding gift from Zoe and Geoff that we'd finally got a chance to use - staying at the Grandis Cottages. The Swan Valley is just east of Perth and is famous as the home of wineries and breweries - and a branch of the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. You won't be surprised to learn we spent a fair bit of time there.

Our cottage was very cosy and we especially liked the great armchairs - as you can see from Jan's relaxed pose.
