The wedding party

Am Samstag 12. August haben wir richtig bei Jans Mutter in Untergruppenbach gefeiert. Amandas Mutter, Jans Eltern und Geschwister und ihre Familien waren dabei. Nochmal gab's viel Essen und auch viel Spaß.

On Saturday 12th August, we celebrated properly at Jan's Mum's house in Untergruppenbach, with Amanda's mother and Jan's parents, sisters and their families filling the house and garden. Again there was plenty to eat, and a lot of fun too.

Hochzeitsnacht in Bad Wimpfen

We spent our wedding night in beautiful Bad Wimpfen, one of our favourite villages near Heilbronn. The Gästehaus Sonne put us up, and the photos show the room from our window, and the hotel itself.


Unsere Hochzeitsnacht haben wir im wunderschön Bad Wimpfen verbracht, einem Lieblingsdorf von uns in der Nähe von Heilbronn. Wir haben in Gästehaus Sonne übernachtet. Die Fotos zeigen unsere Aussicht und das Hotel selbst. (In Australien ist so ein Dorf fast unvorstellbar!)

A wedding BBQ

After the ceremony we celebrated with a barbecue at Kaudenwald near Untergruppenbach. A time for eating, playing and taking photos.


Nach der Trauung haben wir beim Grillen im Kaudenwald weitergefeiert. Viel essen, spielen und fotografieren.

The Ceremony: Die Trauung

11.00am, Friday 11th August: we're waiting (a little) nervously in Heilbronn's Town Hall. With my beautiful bouquet from Jan's sister Heike, I'm as prepared as I'll ever be!


11Uhr, Freitag 11. August: wir warten (ein bisschen nervös) im Heilbronner Rathaus. Mit meinen wunderschönen Blumenstrauß von Jans Schwester Heike, ich bin gut vorbereitet!

We got through the mostly German ceremony - we said "ja" at the right time - and we were allowed to put our rings on.

Wir haben die deutschsprachige Trauung überlebt - wir haben Ja am richtigen Moment gesagt - und wir dürfen unsere Ringe tragen.

In Germany, paperwork is important. Jan received our marriage certificates (several copies, German and English). And it was all official!

Papierkram ist wichtig in Deutschland. Jan hat unsere Heiratsurkunden bekommen (mehrere - deutsch und englisch). Dann war alles offiziell.

Vorbereitung ...

Wedding preparations are almost complete - unsere Vorbereitungen sind fast fertig.

Luckily Amanda's private school days taught her how to tie a tie. Glücklicherweise hat man Amanda während der Schulzeit beigebracht, wie man eine Krawatte bindet.
