Many many thanks to all who sent me those lovely cards, fancy jumpers and little toys. Soon there will be more toys required but currently I need lots of cuddles and sleep. My mum is looking very well after me and her milk bar is open 24/7. So don't be sad, I will catch up soon for a hug.

Day three in a young life

Introducing Ruben Samuel Augustin

Behind every baby's name there is usually a bit of an anecdote, and it's the same in our case. We began by looking through lists of names in books and online. We didn't even know if we were having a boy or a girl. We both picked out nice-sounding names for boys and girls, but it turned out we couldn't really agree. A new strategy was needed. To suit our passions, Jan started looking at the names of famous artists and Amanda at famous writers.
And so we arrived at Ruben after the famous painter Peter Paul Rubens as well as Amanda's beloved grandmother Ruby, and Samuel was chosen after the Irish writer Samuel Beckett, who we both admire.

Hinter Namensgebungen verstecken sich oft kleine Anekdoten. So auch bei der Namensfindung fuer unser Kind. Alles begann vor einem halben Jahr. Wir begannen Namenslisten aus Buechern und Internet zu durchstoebern. Bis dahin wussten wir noch nicht, ob es ein Junge oder Madchen sein wird. Wir waehlten die wohlklingensten Namen aus. Es kam wie es kam und wir konnten uns nicht einigen. Eine neue Strategie musste her. Entsprechend unserer Leidenschaften begann Jan nach Namen beruehmter Maler und Amanda nach Schriftstellern zu suchen.
So kam wir zum Namen Ruben nach dem bekannten Maler Peter Paul Rubens und Amanda's geliebter Grossmutter Ruby. Samuel haben wir gewaehlt nach dem irischen Schriftsteller Samuel Barclay Beckett, den wir beide sehr schaetzen.

After 8 hours the baby is born. Amanda holds her little cute boy in her arms.

The baby's weight is 3,375kg and body lenght 51cm.

Heftige Winde und Regenschauer mit Hagel haben am Montag das Stromnetz von Perth an mehreren Orten beschaedigt und die Stadt in einigen Teilen lahm gelegt. Nichts schien mehr zu funktionieren nicht einmal das Telefon. Eine lange Stille war eingetreten. Fast dreizehn Stunden ohne Strom.

Dann haben wir unsere Kerzen angezuendet und Eis gegessen.
